How My Mood Board Keeps Me Inspired

Growing up I always had magazine scraps, paint swashes, etc. scattered across my entire bedroom. My mom actually still hates it to this day, because when I moved out I left all of the scraps all over the walls. And I mean all over! (Sorry mom! Just think, you helped my artistic career all those years ago but letting me tape things up!) At the age of 23, I still love to get inspired this way — but in a more refined matter. I have a giant wire grid behind my desk in my office, and I am constantly swapping out images and references to stay inspired and fit my current mood.

This is the little office that I run my three businesses out of. (Yes, three!) It can easily feel cluttered and out of order, but I do my best to keep it in order so that I stay inspired and motivated. Organization makes life so much easier, you guys! I am constantly working on new projects, campaigns, and of course buying for the next season for Magnolia Rifle. I try to swap out my mood board every Monday to start the week with a fresh feeling!

What You’ll Find On My Mood Board:

  • Photos or memories
  • Stationery that is too good to just throw away
  • Magazine clippings
  • Fabric swatches or color palettes
  • Anything else that is currently inspiring me!

This wire grid was something we found in the garbage can behind our office. We pulled it out of the trash and cleaned it up, then I decided to spray paint it gold for a touch of glam. I love how easy it is to clip things to! If you aren’t lucky enough to find this in your trash, Urban sells an identical version or even a square version that’s on sale. Some of my favorite things on my mood board this week is this Good Vibes card, some throwback polaroids from this past event, and a few grabs out of Vogue for Spring/Summer trends.

I start each Monday off by swapping out my board. After our Monday morning meeting, I come into my office and turn on some fun tunes. Then, I always make sure I have a trusty Diet Coke® by my side. Diet Coke recently just released a new, sleeker design, along with four new flavors. I stopped by Walgreens to pick up the latest magazines to source inspiration from and couldn’t help but picking up a couple for myself.

This past week I started the day off with Feisty Cherry… because every Monday should start off a little feisty! Not only do they have a new bold flavor, they are also 0 calories and sugar!

When you head to Walgreens’ site on your mobile device, you can use your thumbprint to determine which flavor best suits your mood. How cool is this?! When I check mine earlier in the day, Feisty Cherry is always the winner. During the afternoon my flavor is Ginger Lime. Diet Coke’s other new flavors include Twisted Mango and Zesty Blood Orange. They are also offering a great deal too! If you buy one 12 oz. sleek can, get one free at Walgreens!

Swapping out my mood board every Monday has become a ritual that I now look forward to each week. It gets me pumped and ready to work!

P.S. I worked with a designer through The Havenly awhile back to design my office. Is this something you’d want to know more about?! I’m debating writing a review post!

I love your mood board! I had one up at my childhood home, but haven’t managed to get one up at my apartment. I like the idea of clipping up images instead of puncturing them and using a million thumbtacks, haha.
