DIY | Easy Purse Insert Or Clutch

I’ve been seeing miniature clutches/purse inserts everywhere lately, but holy cow can they be pricey for the tiny little things! I had a little bit of spare time on my hands last week so I figured I’d try to make one myself. I’m pretty excited for how this project came out. I carry it in my tote during the day and I can easily put my bare necessities in it for a night out. Keep reading to find out how to make one at home!

What You’ll Need:

Vinyl or any type of leather, scissors, and binder clips.

Optional: something to push the corners out, sewing machine or hand needle.

Start by cutting a rectangle to the size of 10″W x 22″L. Then fold your fabric in half, lengthwise. Use binder clips to hold folded. This makes the fold more permanent. Next to the same thing, folding your bag the other way. (Inside out.)

Next, using either a machine or by hand, sew up your two sides. Make sure to reinforce the top and bottom for protection! (Clearly mine needs to be dusted!)

Your last step is to turn the clutch right side out! I finished mine by cutting a small strip out of the scraps and tying it around the clutch. I’m kind of obsessed! Doesn’t it remind you of this clutch?

Now that I have a cute purse insert I never have to worry about my feminine products falling out during awkward times. Seriously- it’s happened too many times to count and now I’m super self conscious about carrying them, even when they are as pretty as these! I know we all have weird quirks/concerns during our time of the month- what’s yours? I’d love for you to share on social media and tag #WhatMatterstoU!

I was wandering around Walmart and realized that they really have everything you need at a great value, including your personal care items. I swear by U by Kotex® Sleek® Tampons and U by Kotex® Cleanwear® Ultrathin pads. They are elegantly designed but don’t sacrifice on quality. Currently if you purchase 2 packs of U by Kotex® products at Walmart, text UbyKotex to 811811 and upload a photo of your receipt, then go to and register to choose your customized reward (up to $25 value)!
