Have you heard of the saying, “A Sunday well spent brings a week full of good content?” Well it might not be Sunday, but I feel like I am really getting back to the content here on the LCC. Leaving all of the day-to-day tasks out of it, I felt like this blog was just going around and around on a hamster wheel. I know, strange.
2018 is for getting back to the things I love. No more hamster wheel. 😉 Within the last year, I dove deeper into my love for all things beauty. Overall this content has had a good response, so why not keep it going? I get asked a lot about what mascara I use, and to be honest I’ve tried them all… thick brushes, skinny brushes, $30 to $2. Last month I went into Ulta and asked them to point out the best mascara on the market right now. Here’s the truth about what I thought of each one.
This Superhero Mascara was my go-to for a long time. In fact, it’s what I used up until I found a mascara that I’m going to talk about later in this post. It really does a great job at lengthening, which at the time I thought I needed. (All girls *need* longer lashes right?! LOL) Here’s why I stopped using it: it’s clumpy. Plain and simple. I would use a new tube for about two or three weeks, then all of the sudden it would become clumpy and hard to apply. Now I’ve read a lot of reviews of this product and some people say that if you store it upright that won’t happen. Well, I’m a girl on the go and honestly apply makeup in the car most days. That just isn’t an option for me! I’ll probably keep this on hand for when I need to pack a punch, because it really does give you dramatic eyelashes.
I was in between reviewing this one or the brand’s Roller Lash. I ultimately went with this one because I have used it for a long period in the past. This mascara has been a hot product ever since it launched back in 2011. For me, it’s a great everyday mascara. I really like the unique brush which makes for easy application. It’s very long lasting, but I didn’t find that it lengthened or filled in my lashes as much as I desired for a night out.
Admittedly, I only bought this mascara because of all the hype and great reviews it had been getting. Well folks, what a letdown. I first talked about it here in this past Beauty Encounters post. At first I liked it… but then I realized I only liked it because I was wearing it on top of It’s Superhero. Once I started wearing it on its own I was really disappointed. I’d have to layer like 4-5 coats for it to even appear that I had mascara on. I’m sorry but I just personally don’t have time for that. At basically the same price as Benefit’s They’re Real, I’ll stick to Benefit’s for my everyday mascara.
I saved the best for last! I had never heard of this product until my latest run to Ulta. The employee who was working swore I had to try it. She wasn’t lying! This is the best mascara I have ever tried. Hands down. I only have to apply 1-2 coats for big, beautiful, full lashes. For a night out I apply an extra coat and va-va-voom! It doesn’t smudge, flake, and lasts ridiculously long. Seriously, run don’t walk. It’s that good. Lancôme’s Monsieur mascara was even voted a 2017 Best of Beauty award from Allure!
Don’t worry, if you’re more of a drugstore mascara girl, I’m currently working on a full list of those too. You’ll very rarely find me outside of the house without mascara, so let’s just say I take my mascaras very seriously. I’m pretty confident that I’ve shared with you my honest opinion about the best mascaras on the market right now. Did I miss one? Let me know!
