Beauty Encounters, Volume 03.

Who doesn’t love trying new beauty products?! Ulta has become a little like Target to me, where you go in for one thing and come out with ten. Harrison has been known to not even allow me to go into Target because it was so bad at one point! They recently built an all new, state-of-the-art Ulta in our local strip mall and it has been dangerous. That was what actually fueled the start to this new series!

This week’s Beauty Encounters features Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder, Pixi Glow Tonic, and Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel. Have you heard of any of these products? Let’s see what I thought in this beauty review!

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel

I’m a little bit of a cult Mario Badescu fan at this point. Remember this post where I talked all about their acne products? I really love their price-point, sleek packaging, and product overall. This cleansing gel was no different. First off, lets talk about the smell. It smells and feels ah-maz-ing! My skin became a little irritated after first use, but that’s just because it was bringing all of the dirt under my skin to surface. After about week 4 I can definitely see a difference!

Disclaimer: I went out of town last weekend and forgot to pack this with me. That means that I did not wash my face with it for four days, and afterwards I could definitely tell. I guess that’s a good thing, right?!

Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder in Aura

I wasn’t joking when I said that Ulta was my new shopping black hole. I had zero intentions of picking this up during my latest run. ZERO. But hey, there it was… just calling my name. Overall, I really like this product. It has such a pretty shimmer to it, it’s remarkable. But, the only thing I will say is that it’s a little pricey. I’m interested to see how long it lasts. That would be my telling point whether or not I’ll purchase again.

Pixi Glow Tonic (c/o)

I mentioned in my last Pixi Beauty review that I was dying to get my hands on the cult favorite, Glow Tonic. Spoiler alert: it really lives up to its reputation!  I usually find it hard to remember to use toner, but I make it a point with this one. This product is extremely watery, but once it’s evaporated it’s not noticeable on the skin at all. It definitely leaves a softer and smoother feeling on your skin! I’ve found that it layers really well under other products too. Because this is a pH dependent product, the order of it in your routine matters. You want to use it right after cleanser and before other exfoliates, serums, or moisturizers.

Pro-tip: don’t use cotton balls or sheets; they waste product. Simply apply it into the palm of your hands before spreading it across the face. That’s how you’ll get the best bang for your buck.

I’m researching lots of new products for the next post in our Beauty Encounters. Is there anything you want us to review? Let me know!

P.S. Aren’t those little planters the cutest things you’ve ever seen? We sell the set of 3 you see above at Magnolia Rifle, make sure to check it out! 😉

Ulta is dangerous! I really try not to let myself go in there ;] I love Urban Decay products, but feel like they have gone down hill the past couple of years.
